At 8am we drove to the boarder crossing from Jordan into Israel. Islam is primary religion in this part of the world. Mohammad said Gabriel came to him and sat next to him and asked him what is Islam. He says five pillars are a testimony. Pray 5 times a day, fasting and giving of Alms to do good works and last if possible is to go to Mecca. What is faith asked Gabriel, belief in God, Angels, Prophets and his words and in final judgment and resurrection of Man. Asked what is worship, he said, live as if you saw God standing beside you. Doubting Thomas is remembered for his worst moment. John !!- Savior comes to this side for protection. He was almost stoned so he came to this side of Jordan River, not Israel, he came to Bethany. Mary and Martha's brother Lazerus was sick and wanted Jesus to come here and help. Jesus waited 2 days to come so Lazerus was dead. Apostles didn't want Jesus to come but Thomas said, let us go with him that we may die with him. Why don't we say Thomas was devoted instead of doubting? Think of him in his best light, be the real you not at your worst. Think of people at their best not at their worst. Remember to look for the very best in people. Go with a disposition to be pleased wherever you go! The real wife or husband you married is them at their best not at their worst. Remember this!
John 11- Martha gives three testimonies of The Savior that is her at her best.

Jericho is just across the Jordan River. It is Pakistan controlled so we are not allowed in. Absolutely NO PICTURES AT THE BOARDER CROSSING OF JORDAN AND ISRAEL!!!!!

We crossed into Israel and traveled through the Judean Wilderness. This area was the home of John the Baptist and the place Jesus went to prepare for his ministry and where he was tempted of the Devil. We passed along the shores of the Dead Sea and stopped for a photo of the Qumran Caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found. Rising above the desert floor is Herod the Great's fortress of Masada which we visited by cable car. During the Jewish revolt in 70 CE Masada's defenders committed suicide rather than be taken prisoner by the Romans. |

This Ram was resting on the side of the mountain where a famous bible story is told about but I forgot what the story is. It was amazing to see the ram there while Br. Wilcox was telling us the story. I wish I could remember everything that was said but I can't. sorry.
ELIJAH'S CAVE
(1 KINGS 19:8-13) |

A mom and baby came around the corner as well ! |
 |
At the end of the night we boarded a wooden boat, shaped the same as would have been in Christ's time, and sailed on the SEA OF GALILEE.
APOSTLES CALLED (LUKE 5:1-11; LUKE 6:12-16)
JESUS SPOKE FROM BOAT (MARK 3:7-12)
LARGE CATCH OF FISH (JOHN 21:6-8)
STORM IS STILLED (MATTHEW 8:23-27)
WALKING ON WATER (MATTHEW 14:24-33)
DEVILS CAST INTO SWINE (MATTHEW 8:28-34) |
 |
Not really the quiet serene place of days gone by but still is was very sacred to feel and know that we were on the waters where Christ walked on water and calmed the sea. So amazing! |
