Day 5 Luxor- April 11, 2012

We first had a lecture by Bro. Wilcox in the morning. Some notes I took were that we should "find the truth in it's most mature form, not look for the church in the one and only true religion. Find the religion that has the most good works. Interact with other religions. Never compare your best to their worst. Learn about a religion from someone who lives it and loves it and leave room in your heart for righteous envy of what others do better than you do.
Infidels are people that worship idols not Christians.
In Islam Isha was Mohammed's first wife. She asked "Do you love me?" He took a knot in a rope and said, " I love you like the knot." (Koran)
After the lecture, we then went to Luxor Temple which is a massive building. It was an incredible thing to see. So impressive I can't imagine what it took to build it but it was first built by Ramses and his favorite wife Nephrite. He loved her most out of the one hundred and something wives... he had like 145 children or something.
Day 5
side note... (the first photo on this post is the last one of the day- explanation)We were taking one last photo trying to show the rows of the Sphinx and it was around 7pm and I fell in the rocks. Not bad but a little embarrassing. So glad it was night and dark but I know some people saw me and were probably laughing... I was laughing but I wanted to cry for a second.... Layton gathered me up and we got back to the bus in time to leave.... I am so predictable, oh well. Great day!

The Nile River

This is an Alabaster plant. They are showing us how they extract the alabaster and then make them into the pieces. We bought a beautiful vase to bring home which sits above our fireplace downstairs. I should post a picture of it. They had to wrap it extremely well so that we could bring it home. If water touches any part of it, it will dissolve.

Our vase is similar to this one, only a bit   smaller.

Little guy begging outside of our bus as we pulled away from the Alabaster museum.

This is one of our tour guides- yellow bus

Ticket to tour  one of the Temples

Original paint still remains on some of the ceilings of the temples. Amazing!

Engie, our Egyptian (Muslim) tour guide.

EGYPTIANS students on tour that wanted a picture with a white American

Another family that was thrilled to see white people and wanted a picture with the cute family on our tour.

MASSIVE!

Can you find me in this picture?

Afternoon lecture on the ship

Brother Wilcox teaching

In a panic, I lost my sunglasses and they were no where to be found. well, maybe they were "somewhere" but I couldn't find them until about 5-10mins later.....

Entrance into Luxor temple around 7pm- Interestingly there is not a cost or any security at this incredibly ancient site. Can you find me in this photo?

Some people believe the small white dots in these photos are called Orbs, which are considered to be spirits. The dots are not in any other photos of our entire trip that we can see, except at this site so we know it was not our camera and there are many other photos taken at night so it is not reflections of light vs our flash.

This was just before I fell in the rocks in front of the row of lions....

Heading back to the ship on the bus

When we returned for the night, we were invited to the "Bellie Dancer's show" and invited up to participate. I was an unwilling participant. How do I get myself into these things?
